EMERGENCY
Mission :Italian neutral association specialized in medical and surgical assistance of high quality,specially for the victims of wars, anti-personnel mines and poverty. It was founded in Milan in 1994. Gino Strada was a surgeon and the founder of EMERGENCY
EMERGENCY promotes a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights
We build hospitals, surgical centers, rehabilitation centers, pediatric centers, first aid posts, health centers, clinics and polyclinics, mobile clinics, a maternity center and a cardiac surgery center. At the request of local authorities and other organizations we have also contributed to the renovation and equipping of existing healthcare facilities.
Education : In hospitals, first aid stations and health centers that we have built and managed in 19 countries, we have to date cared for 11 million patients with passion and competence. These results were achieved thanks to the commitment of thousands of volunteers in Italy and hundreds of doctors, nurses, technicians with various skills, who decided to contribute with their professionalism to our missions in Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Iraq... We still need professionals who want to become companions. It will be an opportunity for everyone to have an extraordinary human and professional experience.
School help/adoption : Thanks to the 180 volunteers involved in meetings with students, specially trained and present throughout Italy, we intervene in schools of all levels because we strongly believe that constant discussion and dialogue with children and young people is important for building a better world together, based on solidarity and respect for human rights. Our volunteers can intervene in a single meeting or with a more complex path defined together with the teachers
